about

I am Kenji Mizukami_, and I work with minds that do not fit standard containers.

For sixteen years, I have been immersed in the field of neurodevelopmental diversity; giftedness, ADHD, autism spectrum, and the complex territory where these overlap, known as twice-exceptionality. I am neither a medical doctor nor a licensed psychologist in the traditional sense; I am a humanari, which means I carry clinical knowledge without institutional authority, and I offer it as a fellow presence rather than as a gatekeeper.

My work sits at an unusual intersection. I assess, yes; I administer comprehensive psychometric batteries, read subtest scatter as narrative, and identify the patterns that explain why a child is collapsing in school despite obvious intelligence, or why an adult has spent decades interpreting their inconsistency as moral failure. But assessment, for me, is not a verdict. It is the beginning of a conversation. I do not hand over a report and disappear; I stay with people as they figure out what the profile actually means for their lives.

I am moved by a specific kind of suffering; the exhaustion of being very fast in a slow environment, the grief of the late-identified adult who finally understands why nothing ever felt easy, the confusion of the twice-exceptional child who is told they are gifted when they succeed and lazy when they cannot. These minds are not broken. They are complex, asynchronous, intense. My task is not to normalize them, but to reduce the friction between who they are and what the world asks of them.

In our conversations, you can expect a particular quality of attention; unhurried, precise, attentive to the exact words you use. I will ask you how things feel from the inside, not only what they look like from the outside. I will explain the research clearly, distinguishing between what is well-established and what is speculative. I will not rush to a label, but I will not withhold one when it fits. Most importantly, I will treat your difference as a feature of your neurology, not a character flaw to be overcome.

Whether you are a parent trying to understand your child, an adult seeking to make sense of a lifetime of misfit, or a clinician looking for a second opinion on a complex case, I am here to look carefully and tell you what I see. The goal is not to fix you. It is to build a map accurate enough that you can finally navigate.
